Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Annie Walker was born about 1869, possibly in England – the daughter of Isaac Walker, a carpenter, and Jane. (See 112 Jane Walker)

She grew up in Lawrence in Central Otago before moving to Dunedin with her family in the early 1890s.

When Annie signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Jones St, South Dunedin (now Calder St) working as a tailoress.

She married David Dickison, a striker, on 5 December 1900 at her parent’s home and they had one son.

David died at their home in South Dunedin in 1925 and Annie died on 15 August 1951 in Hokitika.

They are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
