Ann Ansell was born about 1850, probably in England.
She emigrated to New Zealand in the 1870’s with her husband John Robert Ansell, a contractor.
When Ann signed the suffrage petition they were living in Gordon St, South Dunedin.
Ann was secretary of the Society for the Protection of Women and Children and was also an inspector for the Benevolent Institute.
John died in 1910 – he is buried in the Southern Cemetery.
Ann re-married in 1915 to John Hodson, a divorcee with several children.
Ann died on 28 November 1930 and John Hodson died in 1934 – they are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
