Elizabeth Brenda Cannon was born in 1874 in New Zealand – the daughter of John Charles Cannon, a book keeper, and Mary Anne McDonnogh.
She grew up in Dunedin and when she signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in High Street.
She did not marry and she was a pupil of the Dunedin School of Arts and Design in 1896 where she received a first class certificate in freehand drawing.
She was active in the St Matthews Church in Stafford Street helping with the sale of work in 1904.
Sometime after her father’s death in 1905 she moved to Wellington.
She travelled to England in 1928 and was a guest at the High Commissioner’s reception in London.
Elizabeth died on 15 August 1959 – she was cremated at Karori Cemetery.
