Bessie/Elizabeth Sutherland was born about 1861 – the daughter of George Sutherland and Dorothy McKay.
She married Edward Thomson Drummond, a railway stoker, on 29 January 1885 in the Waitati Parish.
They had four children and the family lived in Clinton where Bessie signed the suffrage petition.
They later lived in Dunedin, Conical Hills, Palmerston and Invercargill before leaving for Auckland in 1913.
Edward died in Auckland in 1942, he is buried in the Waikaraka Cemetery in Onehunga, Auckland.
Bessie died in Dunedin on 29 June 1946, she is buried in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
