Barbara Frances Hagen was born in 1870 in the Tokomairiro district – the daughter of Samuel Hagen, a farmer, and Barbara Teer.

Barbara signed the suffrage in Milton.

She married James Davidson, a labourer and widower, on 14 June 1911 at the Milburn Presbyterian Church and they lived in Dunedin.

James died in 1932, he is buried with his first wife in the Northern Cemetery, Dunedin.

Barbara died in Dunedin on 31 August 1951, she is buried with her brother and sister in the Fairfax Cemetery, Milton.
