Bridget Moloney was born about 1840 in Cauris Ennis, County Clare, Ireland.
She married William Meade, a contractor, in 1862 in Victoria, Australia and shortly after they sailed for Otago.
They settled in Dunedin where William and his two brothers worked at building roads and the family had seven children, two who appear to have died in infancy.
When Bridget signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Bay View Road, Dunedin.
Bridget died at her home on 15 November 1900 and William died in 1917 – they are buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
