Bridget Shinkwin was born about 1873 – the daughter of Charles Shinkwin, a miner and publican, and Maria Lenon. 

Bridget signed the suffrage petition in Greymouth where she worked as a dressmaker. 

She died at her home on 30 October 1930 after a time in Greymouth Hospital. 

She is buried in the family grave in the Karoro Cemetery.
