Isabella/Bella Armstrong was born in about 1867 in Glasgow, Scotland. She came to New Zealand about 1874 and married Harry Joseph Treurn, a Master Mariner, in 1888. They had five children.

When she signed the suffrage petition Isabella was living in York Place, Dunedin.

Harry died on 29 May 1943 and Isabella died a few days later on 7 June. They are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
