Barbara Ann McKenzie was born on 3 December 1859 in Forres, Morayshire, Scotland – the daughter of John McKenzie and Elizabeth Tolmie.
She emigrated to New Zealand and, on 25 April 1883, she married Alfred Bradfield, a farmer.
They had 10 children and lived at Tahatika in the Owaka Valley in the Catlins, South Otago.
Alfred died at his home in 1917 and Barbara died on 13 March 1924, they are buried together in the Owaka Cemetery.
