Beatrice Neilson was born about 1862. She married John Deuchrass, a store keeper, on 23 February 1882 in Dunedin. They had one son.

When Beatrice signed the suffrage petition the family were living in 'Kent Cottage' in York Place. They later had shops in Castle St then Arthur St.

John died in the Dunedin Hospital in 1909. Beatrice continued to run the shop until at least 1911.

She was living in Wellington when her son died in 1941. Beatrice died on 20 September 1961, aged 99. She was cremated at the Karori Cemetery, Wellington.
