Beatrice Grace Olivia Stuart was born in 1872 in Wellsford. She was one of seven children born to Andrew Godfrey Stuart and Rosa Amelia nee Wilson, both born in Australia. They arrived in Auckland about 1870 with a young son and settled in Wellsford, where Andrew was a farmer and carrier.
By 1900 the family had moved to Howick where Andrew was listed as a farmer, on electoral rolls. Then in 1902 Beatrice died, aged 29 years. 'On August 22 , of pneumonia. Beatrice G. O. Stuart, youngest daughter of Mr A. G. Stuart, late of Howick.' Her parents had just moved again, to Kopuru, Northland, where Beatrice was buried in the Old Mount Wesley Cemetery, Dargaville. Her parents, Andrew and Rosa died within a few years of Beatrice and are buried with her.
