Bessie/Bethia Falconer was born in New Zealand in 1864 – the daughter of Charles Falconer, a farmer, and Janet Rattray.
When she signed the suffrage petition she was living with her father and siblings on the family farm 'Glenkilrie' near Milton in South Otago.
Bessie did not marry, she died at her sister’s home in Milton on 12 February 1931 and is buried in the Fairfax Cemetery, Milton.
