Elizabeth Black McIntyre was born about 1878 in Glasgow, Scotland – the daughter of John McIntyre, a labourer, and Elizabeth. (See 65 Elizabeth McIntyre)
She sailed for Queensland, Australia with her family about 1879 and they then moved to Dunedin about 1883.
When Bessie signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Russell St, South Dunedin – now known as Fox St.
She married William Rush, a railway employee, on 4cDecember 1907 and they had three children, one who died at birth.
Bessie died on 29 January 1944 and William died in 1965, they are buried with their daughter in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
