Bridget Jackson was born about 1857 in County Leitrim, Ireland.
She emigrated to Otago in 1873 on the Lady Jocelyn and she married Andrew Bell, a farmer, on 16 June 1887 in Oamaru.
They had 11 children and when Bridget signed the suffrage petition they were living at Duntroon.
Andrew died at their home in 1915 and Bridget died on 28 July 1947 in Oamaru.
They are buried together in the Duntroon Cemetery.
