Bridget Lawless was born about 1854 in Galway, Ireland.
She emigrated to Otago in 1875 on the Zealandia and she married Peter Fahey, a labourer, on 6 September 1877 in Dunedin.
They had 12 children – nine of their children died in infancy and a daughter died aged four years old.
When Bridget signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Waverley St, South Dunedin.
Bridget died at her home on 23 April 1900 and Peter died in 1927 – they are buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
