Allison Carey Beck was born in New Zealand in 1866 – the daughter of Henry Beck and Hannah Logan.
In 1893 Allison married John William Milnes, a widower with one child. They had six children of their own.
John died at Lees St, Dunedin in 1940 and Allison died in Auckland on 25 January 1946. She was cremated and her ashes interred in the family grave at the Northern Cemetery, Dunedin.
