Catherine Cable was born on 12 December 1855 in Leslie, Fife, Scotland – the daughter of Joseph Cable, a farm mill manager, and Catherine James.
She emigrated to Otago with her family in the 1860’s and they settled in Dunedin.
Catherine’s parents died in 1871 and 1888 and when she signed the suffrage petition she was living with her brother and his family in Cumberland Street working as a dressmaker. (See 93 Mrs S Cable)
Catherine died in Dunedin on 17 May 1920 – she is buried with her parents in the Southern Cemetery.
