Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Catherine Mackin was born in 1843 in Victoria, Australia – the daughter of John Mackin and Mary Currin.
She sailed to Otago in early September 1863 on the Omeo and she married Robert James Campbell, a farmer and lighthouse keeper, on 12 September.
They had six children, one who died in infancy.
Robert died at their home 'Tokata Point', Port Molyneux in 1886 and when Catherine signed the suffrage petition she was living at Nugget Bay – the electoral roll gives her occupation as grazier.
Catherine died at her home on 1 October 1917, she is buried with Robert in the Port Molyneux Cemetery.
