Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley.
Caroline Rankin was born about 1835 in Carnie, Aberdeenshire – the daughter of Bryce Rankin and Helen Tulloch.
She married Alexander Innes, a tailor, in 1858 in Marnoch, Banffshire and they had one daughter. (See 163 E Sundstrum)
In 1872 the family boarded the Peter Denny for Otago.
They settled in Dunedin and when Caroline signed the suffrage petition they were living in Hill St, Mornington in an area known as The Glen.
Alexander died in 1909 and Caroline died at her home on 5 June 1919 – they are buried in the family grave in the Northern Cemetery.
