Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Ann Crawford Loudon was born in 1871 in New Zealand – the daughter of James Loudon, a mine manager and storekeeper, and Elizabeth Wilson. (See 150 E Loudon)

When Ann signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family at Walton Park, near Fairfield, working as a clerk, presumably in the family business.

Just before her marriage in 1899 Ann was presented with 'a handsome silver cake basket' by the Green Island Presbyterian Church choir.

She married Robert Howorth, a farmer, on 30 November at her parent’s home – they had two children.

Robert died at their home in Dunedin in 1937 and Ann died on 3 September 1954 – they are buried together in the Green Island Cemetery.
