Catherine Welsh was born about 1864 in England.
She emigrated to New Zealand about 1875 and she married Thomas Barker Mason, a gardener, in 1882.
They had five children and when Catherine signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Cargill Rd, South Dunedin.
Thomas died in 1925 and Catherine died on 6 May 1939, they are buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
