Clara Matilda Notlen was born in 1865 in New Zealand – the daughter of James Notlen and Eliza Hughes.
She married Richard Prebble, a bootmaker, in 1887 and they had seven children.
When Clara signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Grosvenor St, Kensington.
Richard died in 1934, he is buried in the Andersons Bay Cemetery with two of his daughters.
Clara died at Gisborne on 19 November 1940, she is buried in the Taruheru Cemetery, Gisborne.
