Caroline Randall was born in 1846 in Hampshire, England – the daughter of Robert Randall, a labourer, and Elizabeth Wooldridge.
She married James Schofield, a platelayer, in 1867 and they had three children before they emigrated to Otago in 1874 on the Christian McAusland.
They settled in Dunedin and had a further three children.
When Caroline signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Lancefield St, Caversham.
They later moved to Mornington where Caroline died on 27 July 1898 and James died in 1915, they are buried together in the Southern Cemetery.
