Caroline Davies (nee Langford) was born in Radnorshire, Wales to Richard Langford and Mary (Price). Caroline was the youngest sister of John Alfred Langford who came to New Zealand aboard the Aurora in 1840 with his new wife Harriett. After their siblings passed away, John Alfred returned home to bring his only surviving sister (Caroline was also a widow), to New Zealand. Caroline died in Mount Roskill, Auckland on 2 February 1896, aged 82.

Her sister-in-law Harriett Langford and niece Leila Stainton signed the petition at the same time.
