Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Caroline Arabella Fulton was born on 4 March 1858 at West Taieri – the daughter of James Fulton and Catherine Henrietta Elliott Valpy. (See 77 Catherine Fulton)
She grew up on the family farm 'Ravenscliffe' near Woodside on the Taieri Plain and was living there when she signed the suffrage petition.
Caroline did not marry - she was active in the Baptist Foreign Missionary Society, the Women’s Christian Temperance Union and the Zenana Mission in India.
In 1898 'a social tea meeting in aid of Dr Barnado’s Homes was held' in the Woodside Mission Hall. 'An interesting account of Dr Barnado’s Homes in London was also given by Miss Fulton, who has lately returned from a visit to the Home Country, also an account of travels in the vicinity of Egypt and other localities mentioned in the scriptures'.
Caroline died on 29 October 1929 in Dunedin and is buried in the family grave in the West Taieri Cemetery.
