Caroline Janet Jones was born in 1866 in New Zealand – the daughter of David Jones and Elizabeth Hobbs.

She married Alpheus Stanley, a tram driver, on 9 September 1885 in Dunedin and they had three children, one who died in infancy.

When Caroline signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Jones St, South Dunedin.

Alpheus died in 1934 and Caroline died at her home on 17 October 1950 – they are buried together in the Southern Cemetery.
