Caroline Louisa Wardell was born on July 3rd 1864 at Mullacarton, County Antrim, Ireland – the daughter of Henry John Wardell, a farmer, and Mary Swan.
She came to New Zealand with her parents and when she signed the suffrage petition they were living in Latimer Square, Christchurch.
Caroline returned to Ireland where she married William Haydock Turtle, a linen manufacturer, on June 7th 1900 at the Friends’ Meeting House in Belfast.
They had 4 sons and lived in Belfast.
Caroline died at her home on January 10th 1936 and William died later that year in December, they are buried in the Friends Burial Ground, Balmoral Rd, Belfast.
