Caroline/Carrie Gertrude Lawson was born in 1873 in New Zealand – the eldest child of Lewis Lawson, an expressman, and Isabella Watson.

When Carrie signed the suffrage petition she was living in High Street, Dunedin.

She married Andrew Lindsay, a motorman, in 1897 and they had three children.

Caroline died at her home in Dunedin on 29 September 1935 – she is buried in the Andersons Bay Cemetery. 

Andrew died in Wellington in 1945 – he was cremated.
