Kate/Catherine Dabinett was born in 1857 in South Otago – the daughter of Job Dabinett and Sophia Hector.
She married Hugh Fraser Ayson on 8 November 1877 in the Warepa parish and they had three children.
Hugh died when their youngest child was six-months-old in 1884 – he is buried in the Warepa Cemetery.
When Kate signed the suffrage petition she was living in Owaka – Stones Directory lists her occupation as farmer.
On 24 October 1903 Kate married John Cregan, a farmer, he died at Gore in 1920.
Kate died at her home 'Somerset' in Owaka on 22 January 1931, she is buried in the Warepa Cemetery.
