Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Catherine Caroline Sharkey was born about 1869, possibly in Australia.

She came to New Zealand and she married Peter Pomery Dungey Botting, a miner, on 20 May 1885 in the Duntroon parish.

They had a son in 1897 and when Catherine signed the suffrage petition they were living in Livingstone in North Otago.

In the 1910s they moved to Naseby where Peter worked as a butcher. They later moved to Edendale in Southland where Catherine died on 9 January 1943, she is buried in the Edendale Cemetery.

Peter died in Oamaru in 1946, he is buried in the Old Oamaru Cemetery.
