Catherine Webb was born in 1870 in New Zealand – the daughter of Thomas Webb and Hannah.
She married William Gibb on 12 January 1889in Queenstown and they had eight children.
When Catherine signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Queenstown and William was working as a rabbiter.
They later lived at Croydon Siding near Gore, where their young daughter died in 1901, they then moved into Gore where William worked as a dredgemaster.
Their last move was to Invercargill where William died in 1935.
Catherine died on 21 November 1946 at Timaru, she is buried with William in the Invercargill Eastern Cemetery.
