Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Catherine Tibbles was born on 15 September 1863 in Tasmania – the daughter of Joseph Tibbles, a farmer, and Catherine Crimmins.

She married Henry Miller, a coachbuilder, on 28 July 1886 in Mount Gambier, South Australia.

They had two children in Victoria before the family sailed for Otago and when Catherine signed the suffrage petition they were living with Henry’s parents in Queen St, Dunedin.

Soon after this they moved to Oamaru & they had a further five children, one who died in infancy.

In the 1900s they moved back to Dunedin where Henry died in 1938 and Catherine died on 14 December 1947.

They are buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
