Cecilia Ross was born about 1854.
She married Alexander Marshall Paterson in Midlothian, Scotland in 1878 and soon after they emigrated to New Zealand.
They had nine children and lived in South Dunedin where Alexander worked as a platelayer then as a shunter for the NZ Railways.
When Cecilia signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Broughton Street.
Alexander died in 1916 and Cecilia died at her daughter’s home in Mornington on 8 September 1934 – they are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
