Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Celia Rebecca Bullock was born about 1862 – the daughter of George Philip Bullock and Sophy.
She came to New Zealand with her family where she married Edward Slade, a bootfinisher, in 1884.
They had four children and when Celia signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Nelson St, South Dunedin.
In 1896 Celia applied for an alcohol prohibition order against Edward 'to have force in the Dunedin and surrounding licensing districts' – the order was granted.
In the 1910s they moved to Christchurch where Celia died on 9 June 1931– she is buried in the Linwood Cemetery.
What happened to Edward is unclear.
