Charlotte Wilson was born in Bathurst, New South Wales, in 1849. Charlotte’s mother died when she was three. She immigrated to New Zealand with her father and younger sister in 1856, and her father remarried in 1859. Charlotte married William Ronald, a Scottish migrant, and they had ten children, of whom nine survived infancy. They settled on a farm at Waianiwa, Southland. Charlotte died in 1913 aged 64.
