Christiana Burton was born in 1851 in Motueka – the daughter of William Henry Burton and Ellen Cook.
She married gold miner, Frederick John Bloomfield, in 1869 an they lived in Greymouth.
They had eight children, two who died in infancy.
Christiana signed the suffrage petition in Greymouth – shortly after this the family moved to Feilding and took up farming.
Frederick died in 1899 and Christiana re-married in 1911 to, farmer, John McArthur Wratt.
Christiana died at her home on 23 March 1935 – she is buried with Frederick in the family grave in the Rangiwhia Cemetery.
John Wratt died in 1945 – he is buried with his first wife in the Feilding Cemetery.
