Christina Stuart Reid was born about 1851 in Aberdeen, Scotland, the daughter of Archibald Grant Reid, a baker, and Margaret Ada Morrison.

She went to Australia with her family in the 1850s, then came to New Zealand in the early 1860s.

They lived at various places around the South Island before settling in Waikouaiti, where Christina married James Cooper Duff, a butcher, on November 26th 1868.

They had nine children and lived in Waikouaiti where Christina signed the suffrage petition.

In the 1910s they retired to Dunedin where James died in 1926.

Christina died the following year on May 25th in Christchurch. She is buried with James in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
