Christina Duthie was born in 1856 in Glen Urquhart, Inverness-shire, Scotland. Her father, Donald, died when she was 2 years old, and she then lived with her sister Margaret, and her mother Mary at her grandparent’s home in Glen Urquhart.
In 1869, when Christina was 13, she emigrated to New Zealand with her mother and sister, following her uncles and aunt who had emigrated earlier.
Christina married Edward Martin Duthie of Milton in November 1880. She had two children to this marriage: Alexander (1881-1968) and Donald (1883-1913).
Christina died in Milton, Clutha, Otago in March 1913 at the age of 56.
