Christina Gould Hain was born on 12 April 1865 in Auchtermuchty, Fifeshire, Scotland – the daughter of William Hain, a weighing machine maker and lay preacher, and Jessie Hardie. (See 346 Jessie Hain)
She emigrated to Otago with her family in 1880 on the Marlborough and they settled in Invercargill before moving to Orepuki.
Christina signed the suffrage petition while at Chatsworth, a farm on the outskirts of Invercargill.
She married Walter Fairlie Evans, a miner, in 1897 – they had no children.
Walter became a Presbyterian minister and the couple moved around the country for Walter’s work.
Christina died in Ashburton on 6 March 1945, she is buried in the Ashburton Cemetery.
William died in Invercargill in 1966, he is buried in the Invercargill Eastern Cemetery.
