Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Christina Ker was born on 10 July 1870 in Edinburgh, Scotland – the daughter of David Ker, a joiner, and Marion Baxter. (See 151 M Ker)
She emigrated to Otago with her family in 1872 on the Christian McAusland and they settled in Dunedin.
When Christina signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Manor Place working as a dressmaker.
She married Sinclair Sutherland, a draper’s assistant, on 8 April 1910.
They do not appear to have had any children and they lived in Christchurch before returning to Dunedin where Sinclair died in 1947.
Christina died on 17 August 1959 at Ross Home in Dunedin, they are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
