Christina Fletcher was born in 1843 in Argyllshire, Scotland, the daughter of John Fletcher, a shoemaker, and Christina McTaggart.
She emigrated to Otago with her family in 1861 on the Pladda and they settled in Dunedin.
Christina married Alexander McKenzie on September 1st 1868 in Dunedin. They had 10 children, two who died in infancy.
The family lived in Port Chalmers before shifting to Waikouaiti in 1890 where Christina signed the suffrage petition and Alexander worked as the county inspector.
In the late 1890s they moved back to Port Chalmers where Alexander worked as a sexton until his death in 1918.
Christina died at her home on May 17th 1926, she is buried with Alexander in the Port Chalmers Cemetery.
