Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Christina Blanche was born about 1838 in Shetland, Scotland and arrived in New Zealand about 1874.

Her husband Robert Hunter Simpson was a bootmaker, also born in Shetland, they do not appear to have had any children.

When Christina signed the suffrage petition they were living in Filleul St, Dunedin with Robert’s father William.

Christina died at Tapanui, South Otago on 1 January 1911 and Robert died in 1912, they are buried together in the Northern Cemetery, Dunedin.
