Christina Bowers was born about 1818 in Ireland.
She married butler William Stevenson on 19 February 1839 in Edinburgh, Scotland.
They had two daughters, one who died in infancy, before William died in the 1860’s.
In 1875 Christina emigrated to Otago on the “Invercargill”. Also travelling with Christina was her daughter Isabella, also a widow, and Isabella’s three children.
They settled in Dunedin and when Christina signed the suffrage petition she was living in Rutherglen, Kaikorai.
She died in the Benevolent Institute on 27 Mary 1899 – she is buried with her daughter in the Southern Cemetery.
