Christina was born at Ballochry near Edinburgh in 1848.
She married Thomas Tait on 5 July 1870 in the Parish of Ratho. Her occupation was listed as ‘servant’.
They sailed to New Zealand on the Gareloch leaving London on 23 November 1874. After a voyage lasting 82 days the ship arrived at Port Chalmers on Thursday morning 11 February 1875.
Thomas and Christina were accompanied by their two children Thomas aged three and Ann aged one.
They travelled on to Oamaru where their next son was born on 2 August 1875 (William Munro). Four further children were born:
- Hercy (Elsie) Cunningham on 4 September 1877
- Alexander on 27 December 1879
- David Munro on 23 January 1882
- Christina Munro on 4 May 1884
The family continued to live in South Oamaru (off Perth Street I think)
Christina signed the Suffrage petition and her signature appears on page 297.
Christina died on 12 June 1911 as a result of chronic bronchitis, asthma and heart failure.
She is buried at the Oamaru Cemetery.
