Clara Harris was born about 1846 in England.
She married William Maitland Hoole in New Zealand in 1864 and they had eight children, one who died in infancy.
In the 1880’s the family name appears to have changed to Maitland.
When Clara signed the suffrage petiton the family were living in Union St, Dunedin.
Clara died on 26 June 1920 and William died in 1923 – they are buried in the family grave in the Northern Cemetery.
