Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Clara/Clarissa Nelmes Wilson was born about 1867.

She married George Peat, a baker, on 20 June 1888 in Dunedin and they had seven children.

When Clara signed the suffrage petition the family were living in William St, South Dunedin.

Two of their sons served in WWI and George was also 'doing his bit' as head baker on one of the transport ships.

Clara died at their home in Main South Rd on 14 July 1935 and George died in 1947, they are buried in the family grave in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
