Clara Augusta Horne was born in 1861 in Lambeth, Surrey – daughter of William Horne and Amelia Henrietta Sprague.
She arrived in Otago with her parents and eight siblings on the Surat in 1874.
On 20 April 1889, in Dunedin, Clara married John Ormiston White, a coachbuilder. They had two daughters and John had a successful coachbuilding business.
John died in 1919 and Clara died on 5 October 1932. They are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
