Clara Woodward was born at Stavely, Derbyshire around 1867. She was the daughter of Henry Woodward and the niece of Emma Woodward, who also signed this Sheet.

Henry Woodward and his wife emigrated to Otago with their family after 1871. Henry’s sister Emma accompanied them.

Henry and his wife had at least three daughters: Clara and her sisters Ellen (who married Amos Keast in 1892) and Emma (who married Robert Cleland in 1900). Clara never married.

She died in Dunedin on 15 July 1940 aged 74, and is buried in Anderson’s Bay Cemetery.
