Posted on behalf of Janet Waite: I have looked at the date of the petition and realise I have made an error. I have muddled the identity of “A Cowie” ( Annie and her daughter Alverie both of Bathgate Street Dunedin.) Annie Cowie signed the petition and she is the daughter of Caroline M Lucas (Bath Street) who also signed. They are my great grandmother and great great grandmother. Alverie Cowie is my grandmother and she would be too young to sign. She was born in about 1890. With apologies. Janet Waite

Alverie Cowie is my grandmother, grand daughter of of Caroline M Lucas of Bath Street. Alverie lived at Bathgate Road with her family, in South Dunedin until she married. It looks as if many members of the family signed the petition. I have counted 5 members all from Dunedin. Fantastic. I had no idea. They were a powerful hardy lot and I feel proud of their contribution
