Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Dorcas Schofield was born in 1868 in Hampshire, England – the daughter of James Schofield, a platelayer, and Caroline Randall. (See 41 C Schofield)

She emigrated to Otago in 1874 on the Christian McAusland with her family and they settled in Dunedin.

When Dorcas signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Lancefield St, Caversham working as a tailoress.

She married John Myfert, a cook, in 1899.

John died in 1911 and Dorcas died on 8 February 1919, they are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
